In the second chapter of The Most Dangerous Games, we move on from one cliffhanger to a very similar cliffhanger in a very similar location. Thrilling! We meet our second protagonist(?) Jack McHenry, who is bad. He fears nothing except fear itself, which he doesn't fear, because he actually fears nothing, because his fear works for him, so he doesn't fear anything. The book begins by throwing us right into the games, except not really. A woman from an unspecified country is on a boat with an unspecified number of unspecified people, thinking unspecified thoughts about the unspecified rules of these unspecified games. At least we know her name, and the name of the brand of boat she's on! I hope that this episode gets across how truly disorienting this book is to read.
